RESEARCH GRANT

Equivalent to the CUN area: 08 – Civil engineering and architecture
Scientific Disciplinary Sector: ICAR/08 – Construction Science
Search title: Mechanics innovative and eco-sustainable materials for the construction industry
Scientific responsible for the research: Prof. Angelo Marcello Tarantino
Duration: 12 months, possibly renewable for a further 12 months

Description of the research project
The research project aims to identify the mechanical characteristics and effects that excavated soils and other components derived from the grinding of demolition materials are able to bring to cement conglomerates. The mechanical characteristics are quantified through mechanical bending and compression tests on small and medium scale samples.

Research objectives
The research aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Creation of different mix designs of rammed earth for comparison with shot earth
  • Characterization of different rammed earth mix-designs through laboratory tests on 40x40x160 prisms;
