Art. 1: Definition of the initiative
The candidate, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Scientific Research Committee, must submit an original, unpublished scientific paper on the topic of telemedicine for frailty.
The work must be relevant and inspired by the guidelines produced by the Scientific Research Committee listed in this call.
The best work among those submitted will be selected by the examining committee composed of academic professors, experts and excellent personalities identified among the professors who teach and collaborate with our sectors and will be awarded one cash prize in the amount of €1 (one thousand five hundred/1.500,00 euros) gross; the work will be published in e-book format and placed in the Research-Publications section of the website. www.unirsm.sm and on the University IRIS portal.
The publication will also be uploaded to the portal www.giurisprudenzarsm.org/catalogo, UNIRSM Research section.
The publication may be accompanied by an introductory statement and/or commentary by one or more members of the Scientific Research Committee.
Article 2: Participants
Candidates in possession of a specialist or master's degree or a degree under the old system in any discipline, obtained by the application submission date (see Art. 4 "Deadline for submission of papers") may participate in this call.
Participation is not incompatible with the candidate's other work assignments; it is not incompatible with the candidate's status as a self-employed or freelancer.
Art. 3: Theme and Guidelines for the paper
The work must be inspired by one or more of the following guidelines indicated by the Scientific Research Committee:
- Telemedicine in prisons and healthcare facilities: support for those deprived of their liberty, the elderly, the disabled, psychiatric patients, and all those in precarious conditions of medical care.
- Telemedicine as a space-time aid: the ability to follow patients even remotely, providing services in remote locations and in conditions of isolation.
- Prevention and rescue: development and application of personal electronic devices for monitoring chronic diseases and reporting any abnormal vital signs to the attending physician or designated healthcare facility, who, if present, can contact the person in a potentially distressed state.
- Telematic systems for remote diagnosis and therapy, both medical and psychological.
- Autonomy/solidarity binomial: the development of the elderly's autonomy, but also the promotion of solidarity and social support, including through new technologies.
- Contribution of telemedicine and robotics for the development of gerontology centers.
- Support for the patient and the caregiver (e.g. applications for services “Uber" for the delivery of medicines or for transport to external hospital facilities for specialist medical visits; robotics for the management of the assisted person).
- Legal and medico-legal aspects of telemedicine.
- Economic implications for local governments.
The candidate will have to present a paper which will have to follow, mandatorily, the following index:
- Indication of the research objectives and method.
- Literature review: search, selection, and summary of evidence; indication of the bibliographic material collected and examined.
- Results: A critical analysis must be produced of the results obtained, their potential impact on clinical and operational/organizational conditions, priorities for future research, and any further initiatives to be undertaken in this field, highlighting any limitations and critical issues of the project.
- Gray Areas: Any areas where it is difficult to achieve a result should be highlighted and discussed.
- minority report: any minority views on the topic being discussed that appear relevant will be presented.
The thesis may be accompanied by attachments and/or additional sections, if essential for understanding the research.
The minimum number of pages required for the paper to be submitted is 30.
