The Library of the University of the Republic of San Marino is the institution dedicated to supporting teaching, research and the cultural and social mission of all academic institutions.
Thanks to the legislative support of the DDL n. 169/2023, it is committed to developing documentary collections, collecting and selecting the most up-to-date scientific literature, preserving valuable historical funds and taking care of the publication and conservation of the University's scientific production and its documentary archive. Aimed primarily at university students, teachers, researchers, and course participants, BiblioUNISRM is also open to every user of the civil community. Despite the fragmentation of its locations, the library institution operates from a single central body for technical and administrative coordination.
The six specialized units, distributed throughout the territory are: the Historical Studies section, the Legal Institute section, the Emigration Studies Center section, the Human Sciences and Communication section, the Design section and the Civil and Management Engineering section.
Since 2008 BiblioUNIRSM has been an integral part of the Library Network of Romagna and San Marino, adhering to the National Library Service (SBN) with its identification code EX0031 RAVUS and, collaborating with the Regions and the University under the management of the Central Institute for the Single Catalogue (ICCU). The OPAC catalogue, accessible through the portal You will discover, represents the heart of the Library and also allows access to digital resources through the platform Media Library Online (MLOL).
The library institution, founded in 1988 with the creation of the Higher School of Historical Studies, today offers approximately 100.000 volumes, 50 subscriptions to current periodicals and 15.000 extracts.
The collection includes numerous book collections of historical and scientific importance, among which the Young Collection, “Library of Memory and Mnemonics”, stands out, purchased by the collector Morris N. Young in 1991, at the suggestion of Umberto Eco, which constitutes one of the richest collections on the theme of memory and mnemonics. Other important collections include those of Ruggiero Romano, Alberto Ronchey, Corrado Vivanti, Eric Hobsbawm and several illustrious academics.
Thanks to these specialized collections and rare funds, BiblioUNIRSM has a strong conservative vocation, supported by a constant commitment to the enhancement of the heritage through digitization projects, publications, conferences, study days and exhibitions. The user is always at the center of attention and BiblioUNIRSM is committed to responding to the needs with competence and courtesy, guaranteeing the confidentiality of personal data.
