Learning outcomes

This course explores the representation, participation and impact of gender in the media, with a particular focus on digital media.

Expected learning outcomes

Understand the main theories and concepts related to gender and media studies.
– Analyze gender representation in media products.
– Evaluate the impact of policies on gender equality in the media.
– Develop critical and analytical skills through the examination of media content and industrial practices.
– Participate in discussions about the cultural and social implications of gender representations in the media.

Course contents

Through a combination of theory and practical analysis, students will critically examine how gender identities are constructed, perpetuated, and challenged in various media formats, including film, television, advertising, and digital media. The course will also investigate policies and initiatives that promote gender equality in the media industry.
