Course content

- Corporate written communication: forms and figures
- Techniques for optimizing the writing process: outlines, maps, checklists
- Principles of professional writing: from paper to screen and back
- Neither bureaucratic nor corporate jargon: tone and style
- Functional writing and artificial intelligence: instructions for good use of AI

Three exercises will be conducted, each focusing on the composition of a specific type of professional text: a guide, a press release, a report. Each exercise will be followed by a collective discussion of the work produced, during which students will have the opportunity to develop their linguistic sensitivity and refine their critical-analytical skills.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required.

Bibliography

At the end of each lesson, the professor will provide students with the educational materials used, which will complement and guide the study of the following textbooks:

- Antelmi D., Scrittura professionale. Guida alla redazione di testi corretti ed efficaci, Roma, Audino, 2020
- Carrada L., Lavoro dunque scrivo! Creare testi che funzionano per carta e schermi, Bologna, Zanichelli, 2012

Teaching methods and tools

The course is primarily practical in nature. It includes: lectures with a strong interactive component; classroom exercises; presentations, and collective critical discussions of the work produced.

Assessment methods and criteria

For the purpose of assigning the final exam grade, the outcomes of the three mandatory exercises will be considered. Each of these will be evaluated in terms of appropriateness to the course guidelines and awarded a score from 0 to 10 points. Furthermore, during collective discussions, students may earn bonus points. At the end of the activities, if the total score exceeds 30 points, students will receive a distinction. In the event of not completing one or more exercises, a brief supplementary oral exam will be required. If a student chooses to decline the grade, an oral exam covering the entire course program will be necessary.
