Introduction

The three-year degree course in Communication and Digital Media, organized by the University of San Marino in collaboration with Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, offers professional training on contemporary communication applied to digital media and networks.

The course combines the disciplines of communication with studies and practices on digital technologies and their use to develop new forms of transmedia communication. It is an innovative training model inspired by the best US and European universities, which offer interdisciplinary teams of teachers from both the humanities and IT fields.

Ample space is reserved, in all teachings, for the analysis of Study cases proposed by companies and professionals of contemporary communication, to the design and creation of strategy e concrete communication campaigns, to collective and individual work based on company briefs.

A maximum of XNUMX students are admitted to the degree course in Communication and Digital Media 60 male and female students per year, selected with an admission test.

The limited number allows to guarantee an optimal relationship between students and teachers in the laboratory activities, in the exercises and in the concrete applications of the concepts and theories illustrated during the frontal teaching.

The Degree Course in Communication and Digital Media responds to the most current demand of the communication market - nationally and internationally - looking for young graduates in the humanities who are able to use digital communication technologies, move competently on the web and are able to interact in an aware and strategic way with IT technicians, engineers and programmers.

To this end, the teaching plan includes courses that allow recent graduates to assist professionals, entrepreneurs and communication managers in designing communication strategies aimed at digital media and Internet, moving with a good basic awareness of the corporate and professional realities of the sector.

Thanks to the cooperation agreement between the University of Bologna – one of the first five Italian universities to activate a course of study in Communication Sciences in 1992-93 at the instigation of Umberto Eco – and the University of San Marino, the students who will have completed the course of study obtain the double degree, issued by both the universities of San Marino and that of Bologna. The title allows access to Italian and international second-level training courses, such as master's degrees and masters.

To be admitted to the Degree Course in Communication and Digital Media it is necessary to have obtained a five-year high school diploma or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable.
Alternatively, it is necessary to have obtained a four-year high school diploma and the related supplementary year or, if no longer active (magical institutes), the assigned educational debit.

The required access skills are:

  •  a good general culture;
  • good logic and reasoning skills;
  • good ability to read, understand and interpret texts and documents in Italian;
  • good written and oral expression skills in Italian;
  • good skills in using the computer and surfing the Internet;
  • moderate ability to read, understand and interpret texts in English (corresponding to level A2).

New graduates in Communication and Digital Media can work:

  1. in small and medium-sized enterprises, organizations and professional studios that deal with web communication and digital media on behalf of third parties;
  2. in small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit organizations that manage their own communication on the web and on social media;
  3. in sectors of large companies or public administration entities that manage the institutional communication of the company or entity on the web and on social media;
  4. as professionals with a VAT number who work individually or in partnership with other professionals, as founders of startup companies that offer consultancy and training services in the field of web communication and digital media.
