Direction

The Head of Department is responsible for the management and promotion of the Department’s scientific and teaching activities and represents the Department in all its academic and scholarly matters. The Head ensures legality and ethical standards in the transparent conduct of all Department activities and works collegially in the decision-making process. In addition, the Head convenes and chairs the Department Council, oversees the implementation of its resolutions, appoints examination committees in accordance with the guidelines established by the Academic Senate, and prepares the Department’s annual plan for teaching and research activities, including organizational arrangements, for submission to the Academic Senate. The Head also prepares annual requests for funding and for the allocation of academic staff in support of the development and strengthening of research and teaching activities.

For all managerial, administrative, and financial matters, the Head is supported by the Department Coordinator.

The Head of Department appoints, from among the professors of the Department Council, a Deputy Head who shall act on the Head’s behalf in the event of temporary absence or inability to perform their duties.
