In the creative workshops of the Degree Course in Design of the University of the Republic of San Marino, true places of know-how, where the culture of manual skills and self-production become a fundamental part of our university, we offer 12-hour courses open to all to learn the technical and instrumental basics in some areas of artisanal production.

Courses
Basic screen printing
Screen printing allows you to create an infinite number of graphic designs through the use of a few tools, such as frames and acetate sheets, and to replicate the images with extreme fidelity.
During the course, participants will be able to manually create a small series of prints on paper and fabric and learn the techniques of print and pattern modularity.

Basic illustration and binding
The course will guide participants to discover different analogue techniques for finding their own style. The aim is to experiment with exercises aimed at freeing the sign, experiment with different materials and create a small story through illustration.
Each participant will create a small illustrated and hand-bound booklet.

3D ceramic printing
The course offers the opportunity and the stimulus to approach the world of ceramics and new digital technologies with which to learn to create unique shapes and objects with the 3D printer.
Participants will learn the basics of 3D printing and ceramics, and will be introduced to the concepts of 3D modeling and design with which to create their own model.
The latter, once the printing phases have started, will begin to take shape, level after level, until reaching the designed volume.
No specific modeling or 3D printing knowledge is required.

Production with cement
The course aims to create decorative objects or small concrete containers. The path will focus on two moments, firstly the creation of the mold with the basic concepts for making it correctly with advice
and tricks to avoid mistakes.
The second part will concern the knowledge of cement, its characteristics and variations and will accompany us through the process of creating the mixture and subsequent casting into the molds created.
At the end of the course each participant will take home the object or objects created.

Still life photography
The course offers the opportunity and the stimulus to approach the world of photography starting from the basics of studio photography, learning the basics of being able to photograph outdoors too.
Participants will learn the basic notions of photography and studio photographic techniques with which to create their own shots.
There will be moments of collective and group photographic practice alternating with moments of individual practice.
No specific knowledge of photography or use of a professional manual camera is required.

Laser cutting and engraving
During the course, participants will be able to learn the process of creating laser cut and engraved objects, which starts from the first hand drawings of shapes and contours, which will then be digitized and subsequently transformed into cutting and engraving paths useful for a controlled machine. digital machine capable of cutting and engraving different materials.
This gives the possibility of creating different types of three-dimensional artefacts starting from different two-dimensional parts and components, and of being able to easily reproduce them in series.

Registration

- It is possible to register up to one week before the start date of the respective course;
- You will be temporarily registered on the booking list;
- One week before the start of the course we will inform you if the minimum number of participants necessary has been reached and you will receive the booking confirmation with payment information.

The Culture of Making project is not part of the university educational offer of the Degree Courses in Design of the University of the Republic of San Marino and does not give the right to the recognition of training credits.
- Participants will be issued a certificate of attendance;
- To register you must be of age;
- It is possible to register up to one week before the start date of the respective course;
- Each course will be activated only if the minimum number of participants indicated is reached;
- Each course has a cost that varies based on the type of activity carried out and the related timing. More information is available in the individual course sheets, which can be found in the "Courses" section.
