What are the habits and customs of virtual life among students aged 11 to 14? What can adults, parents, and teachers do to guide minors into this world? How can we guide adolescents toward a conscious use of new technologies? These are some of the questions that will be addressed during the roundtable discussion "Education for the Conscious Use of Social Networks," promoted by the Scuola Media Inferiore del Titano in collaboration with the Youth Observatory of the Department of Human Sciences at the University of the Republic of San Marino, as part of the interdisciplinary project "#6connesso???," aimed at educating and promoting the conscious use of social networks.
The event will take place at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9th, in the Aula Magna of the Fonte dell'Ovo Middle School. Gilda Casadei, deputy headmaster, will moderate presentations by Ezio Righi, principal of the Fonte dell'Ovo Middle School; Giovanni Boccia Artieri, professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Humanities at the University of Urbino; Sebastiano Bastianelli, director of the Department of Human Sciences at the University of San Marino; and Alessandro Cenci from the Middle School's social media working group.
During the meeting, open to the public, data collected on two-thirds of the school population aged 11–14 will be shared. The meeting will also discuss how to teach young people how to constructively engage with the current forms of expression offered by the internet, thus proposing a new model of active and democratic citizenship that also permeates the virtual sphere.
