USMARADIO, the radio station of the University of the Republic of San Marino, opens its microphones and opens its doors to the public for its inauguration, scheduled for 18:30 pm on Tuesday 21 February 2017 in the spaces of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, the main seat of the San Marino University, located in the historic centre of San Marino.
Following the experiments of recent months, characterized by experimental programs, a series of live broadcasts and electronic music performances will mark the beginning of a continuous 24/7 activity, during which students, faculty, and collaborators will create a meeting place for people from all disciplines. Space will be given to designers, artists, scientists, researchers, inventors, hackers, educators, journalists, economists, historians, cartographers, and activists, all under the banner of art, science, and nature.
Workshops and work sessions will also be organized under the umbrella of the “Scuola di Radiofonia — The School of Radio,” which will examine the theory and practice of radio: sound art, web radio, radio and telematics, network projects, new radio drama, the relationship with text, soundscape, software and hardware, live radio and live media.
Usmaradio therefore presents itself as a radio that goes beyond radio, also conceived as an exhibition space in which to present exhibitions that work on sound, in collaboration with local and international organizations.
During the presentation, it will be possible to meet the director of the facility, Roberto Paci Dalò, and discuss the opportunities offered by the competition for the position of Usmaradio's station manager, for which applications are currently open. The competition announcement can be found on the University website. www.unirsm.sm inside the news area.
Finally, in conjunction with the inauguration of the radio, the new self-managed space for students will be presented, an area of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara equipped with video and sound, always open and available to the entire campus.
From 21 pm the event will move to the Cooperativa Il Macello, where the live radio broadcasts and concerts will continue.
