Theater Workshop: Places: Living Testimonies
The Cultural Institutes and the Department of Human Sciences of the University of San Marino promote a citizenship education program that uses theatrical language as its primary research tool.
This project was born from the idea that theatrical practice can be an important resource for the community, in different fields and for the benefit of various types of people, as it aims to strengthen collaborations and expressive skills and to stimulate creativity and knowledge.
The aim of the program is to spark a reflection through a structured proposal, capable of grafting itself onto the local area, becoming a cultural event for the entire community, an opportunity for everyone to enrich themselves and develop their personal growth, starting from the narration of places and spaces that are part of San Marino's identity.
The project's core theater workshop will be led by Silvio Castiglioni, an actor and theater researcher with a degree in philosophy, founder of the CRT in Milan, and artistic director of the Santarcangelo Festival. He has worked with, among others, Eugenio Barba, Raùl Ruiz, and Federico Tiezzi. He has staged performances based on texts by N. Revelli, A. Zanzotto, S. D'Arzo, F. Dostoevskij, A. Manzoni, N. Pedretti, and R. Baldini. Recent works include: Casa Ghizzardi: mi richordo anchora, for the Milan Triennale, and
Concerto for Jack London, with Fabrizio Bosso. For many years, he directed the Center for Social and Community Dramaturgy at the CRT in Milan. He now teaches theater at the Catholic University of Brescia and the Accademia dei Filodrammatici in Milan.

The project is aimed at anyone who feels the need to explore the language of theatre as a tool for knowledge that enables the development of new forms of active participation and social cohesion. Participants will become authors of a narrative built on living testimonies connected to the San Marino region: locations and spaces in the historic center, Borgo Maggiore, and Mount Titano will be used to jointly create a theatrical event.
Duration
The course will consist of 84 hours of laboratory work and will be structured as follows:
Saturday, November 18 at the University — Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara Project presentation and creation of the working group according to the following times: 9.00/12.00 – 14.00/17.00
to follow 13 meetings, starting from Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November.
The meetings will take place on weekends on a monthly basis.
The project will be curated from the Cultural Institutes – Performing Arts and the Theatre and Citizenship Research and Teaching Centre of the University of the Republic of San Marino.
