White Night — Walls Borders Limits

The aim of this brief presentation is to reconstruct, in a diachronic perspective, the causes and trajectories of the major migratory movements recorded during the contemporary era: from traditional migrations driven by economic reasons to forced migrations, primarily involving populations fleeing war. Starting with the case of San Marino, and then broadening the analysis to a global dimension, the paper will address the migratory flows that have shaped the history of the 20th century and are shaping the current period, challenging demographic patterns and diplomatic and political relations within Europe.

The origins of plane tessellation date back to antiquity, when humans began to need to delineate the boundaries of their lands. From the concept of limits/borders to abstract patterns in artistic works (see, for example, the mosaics in the Arab world born from strict observance of the Quran). The walls of the Alhambra in Granada, covered in tiles, give the impression of extending infinitely, transcending the confines of the palace. Ceramic wall decorations replicate abstract shapes in symmetrical arrangements. Tessellation in buildings has always been a way to combine aesthetics, elegance, and simplicity, and to transform engineering and architecture into works of art.

Performance evaluation is a recurring theme in the daily lives of businesses. This is particularly important in healthcare management, where there has been a gradual shift from a means-based approach to a results-based approach. The conference will present some of the results of ongoing research conducted using the EGIPSS model in the wider Pesaro-Urbino province.

The fundamental theme of the Master's in Geriatric Medicine is the study of the aging process: in recent decades, significant progress has been made in understanding this multifaceted and complex biological phenomenon, leading to the gradual decline of individuals and the end of life. The population is aging for two reasons: increased life expectancy and a simultaneous decline in birth rates. Life expectancy is not the same as longevity; longevity is the maximum limit a species can reach. Can humans extend this longevity goal?

An installation of four video projections and a sound sculpture created between 1999 and 2014, retracing the reflection on Borders and the boundaries of identities developed in the Sanmarinosarajevo Project, promoted by the Office of Social and Cultural Activities of San Marino. The underlying theme of the installation is the relationship between multiple aspects of the theme of borders, starting with that of San Marino, and the boundaries of identities. A journey marked by video works, documentation, and narratives linked to the social complexity of otherness and diversity, to geographies as spaces of a divided and shared human territory, but also by the metaphor of the immaterial boundary of time marked by the rhythm of sound in space.

Demonstration station highlighting and illustrating AlphaLabs' solutions for road safety, urban mobility, and sustainability through film screenings and design studies, within the strategic and defining vision of distributed urban security, for the continuous protection and monitoring of residential areas and their residents.

Libraries now seem like borderlands, or rather, places confined to the margins of the Nervenleben of the contemporary post-metropolis. Yet it is precisely from these confines that a resistant voice can emerge today, one capable of offering an alternative to the "places of consumption," replacing them with places of the soul, as libraries were once conceived. But it is a soul in the Greek sense of the term, a psyche extremely akin to ideas: a concept that passes unscathed through the history of Christianity to find itself, in our modest proposal, in the place par excellence of transcendental mediation (the Church as a place of limits), albeit in a secularized declination of knowledge. The creation of a new space for study and lessons in the former church of the Convent of Santa Chiara aims to bridge the gap between church and library. This space will consist of self-supporting mobile furniture with a dual function: book storage on one side (the library), and multimedia projection and reading space on the other (the reading room).

A theatrical performance by the Upper Secondary School Theatre Group, coordinated and directed by Professor Alan Scarpellini. The work was conceived by the students, who wanted to stage ideas, suggestions, and texts on themes such as dreams, uniqueness and diversity, the relationship with society, conformism, and madness.

The rock face is seen as a natural wall, a barrier to human activity, but also as an element of fascination for humanity since prehistoric times (humans began communicating on rock faces), and as a natural element where one can test and test one's abilities and limits. The goal of the initiative is to create an engaging encounter, which will make those who attempt climbing the face feel like active participants. The event aims primarily to provide the opportunity to experience powerful emotions linked to primary sensations such as weight, the strength of the arms and legs, the tension of holding onto the wall, or the relaxation of descending with a rope. The event will also provide an opportunity to share geological and technical information on the origin and nature of the local rocks. The instructors will include civil engineers with climbing experience.
