Welcome

The master's degree course* in Civil Engineering/IASA (Anti-Seismic Engineering for Environmental Sustainability) of the University of the Republic of San Marino, organized in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, responds to the needs of a territory in which there are dynamic and highly developed entrepreneurial and professional realities in the construction and infrastructure sector. The degree course offers an accurate and modern preparation on the most characteristic disciplines of Civil Engineering, leading to the training of professional figures, with high skills and abilities, who can easily enter the world of work.

It belongs to the class LM-23 master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering established by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.

The master's degree course (IASA) aims to provide complete and in-depth expertise on the central subjects of Civil Engineering, as well as high-level specialization in the sectors of structures, infrastructures, geotechnics, hydraulics and installations. Graduates will also acquire the ability to manage construction processes, even complex ones, based on the modern criteria of environmental sustainability engineering.

The master's degree course in Civil Engineering/IASA (Anti-Seismic Engineering for Environmental Sustainability) aims to train a professional figure with advanced knowledge in the field of materials and structures in the civil sector, with particular attention to environmental aspects. The course offers the necessary insights for the anti-seismic design of buildings, for structural interventions on the existing building stock and for post-earthquake reconstruction. Advanced concepts and methodologies are also provided in order to use natural resources and energy in a conscious and sustainable way, safeguarding the environment for the benefit of future generations.

The course awards a joint degree from the University of the Republic of San Marino and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, legally valid in San Marino, in Italy and in Europe.

The notions imparted during the training course allow master's graduates to operate in various sectors, with particular reference to:

  • design of structures and infrastructures in seismic areas;
  • design of hydraulic works;
  • management of energy sources;
  • geotechnical design;
  • management and organization of construction sites;
  • quality control of materials used in construction;
  • territorial design and planning;
  • sensing and monitoring for civil engineering;
  • building and infrastructure design;
  • design of civil and industrial plants;
  • research and development within companies.

Following the degree, the master's civil engineer finds employment preferentially in design studios, construction companies, public administrations, insurance companies, credit institutions, local authorities.

Three-year graduates of university courses recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research can enroll.

The training activity is mainly carried out through lectures in the classroom with the support of the latest generation audiovisual tools. The courses are accompanied by practical exercises, laboratory activities, guided tours and internships. The lessons are designed to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills typical of Civil Engineering. This didactic organization aims at the training of professional figures able to immediately enter the world of work.
