Students from universities that have an international mobility agreement with the University of San Marino can spend one or two semesters at our University as part of their studies. To participate in an exchange program, it is necessary to be nominated by your home university.

The Erasmus path

Application:

  • 1 phase: Students nominated by partner universities will receive an email from international@unirsm.sm to confirm that they have been nominated.
  • 2 phase: Following the instructions received via email, students must fill out the form https://forms.office.com/e/ECR5sRYNzr
  • 3 phase: Send to incoming@unirsm.sm:
    • Identity card
    • English/Italian language certificate level B1
    • Draft Learning Agreement

Residence permit for study purposes:

International exchange students, coming from countries both inside and outside the Schengen area, must apply for a Residence Permit for Study Purposes directly at the San Marino Gendarmerie (Foreigners Office), presenting the following documents:

  • Copy of your identity document and/or passport (along with the original for verification);
  • Certificate of enrollment at UNIRSM;
  • N. 4 passport photos in ICAO format;
  • Certificate relating to any ongoing criminal proceedings or pending charges, or certification of their absence, to be requested at the time of application by self-certification at the Foreigners' Office, with a 15 euro stamp;
  • Certificate of any pending criminal proceedings or charges, or certification of their absence, issued by the competent authority of your country of origin before your arrival in San Marino [the certificate must not have been issued more than 6 months before your arrival in San Marino]. If the certificate is not in Italian, it must be translated and certified by a notary.
  • Fill out this form https://www.unirsm.sm/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/request-form.pdf and send it by email to the Social Security Institute (ISS), Economic Benefits Office – Health Care (assistenzasanitaria.pe@iss.sm) along with a copy of the health insurance. The office will return the completed and stamped document to the students, ready to be presented to the Foreigners' Office – Gendarmerie.
  • Proof of private health insurance with a minimum annual coverage of €30.000, valid in the territory of the Republic of San Marino.
  • Applicant's latest tax return and any other documentation useful to demonstrate the ability to support oneself.

  1. Go to the Student Office within 2 days of your arrival in San Marino and collect your University badge, enrolment certificate and SMaC card
  2. Deliver all documents required for the residence permit to the Gendarmerie

Collect the Transcript of Records – an official list of the educational activities carried out: exams, laboratory activities, etc. – from the Student Office, which if it cannot issue it immediately will send it to your email address or to that of your university.
