How to get ECM credits

Having regard to Decree Law no. 11 of 2018 January 3 on the subject of clinical trials of medicines and provisions for the reorganization of the health professions, as well as the entry into force from 01/01/2019 of Continuing education manual for healthcare professionals 

Exemptions: the healthcare professional must request exemption for attending the university Master's degree, submitting the application directly to the relevant Order by registering on the Cogeaps portal – Reserved Area Registration – Access to the CME credit register (Annex IX application for exemption recognition ECM)

Please note that the exemption does not award credits but reduces the individual training obligation of the three-year period by 1/3 and that any ECM credits acquired during the exemption periods will in any case be counted for the purposes of satisfying the three-year training obligation.

ECM single modules

I professionals Italian Students can enroll in individual modules of the course and obtain ECM credits. Credits will be awarded exclusively based on the hours actually attended; therefore, absences are not permitted for the purposes of ECM recognition.

The credits will be calculated according to the following criteria:

  • 1 hour of in-person attendance = 1 ECM
  • 1 hour of remote attendance = 1,5 ECM

I Sammarinese professionals They cannot obtain accreditation for attending individual modules.

Attendance at individual modules is permitted up to a maximum number equal to half minus one of the total modules required by the Course.

MODALITA’ DI RICONOSCIMENTO ECM PER ISCRITTI AI SINGOLI MODULI

With the Resolution of the National Commission for Continuing Education of 25 October 2018 (resolution-foreign-countries-25/10/2018.pdf), the Republic of San Marino has been included in the List of foreign countries in which it is possible to carry out individual training activities.

On November 20, 2025, the National Commission for Continuing Education approved the University of the Republic of San Marino's request for inclusion in the List of Foreign Training Institutions (LEEF): https://ecm.agenas.it/leef/lista-enti for the recognition of 100% of ECM for professionals in training at our University.

Following participation in a training activity not provided by a provider and carried out abroad at an institution included by the CNFC in the List of Foreign Training Institutions (LEEF) will be recognized to the healthcare professional, in compliance with the limits set out in paragraph 3.1. of the "Manual on the continuous training of healthcare professionals", 100% of the training credits, up to a maximum of 50 credits for each individual training activity.  

Procedure for requesting recognition (Requests for individual training recognition from LEEF-registered institutions | ECM National Commission for Continuing Education)

In order to obtain this recognition, the healthcare professional must choose one of two methods, based on the type of certificate:  

  • you will have to insert the request for recognition of ECM credits in the portal CO.GE. APS in the event that the training credits are indicated in the documentation in his possession;  

or

  • You will have to send an application for recognition of ECM credits to the email address ecm@pec.agenas.it , in the event that the training credits are not indicated in the documentation in his possession.
