Giuseppe Bellelli

Biographical profile

Giuseppe Bellelli was born in Brescia on 29 January 1963 and studied at the University of Milan, graduating in Medicine in 1988 and obtaining a specialization in Geriatrics and Gerontology in 1992 at the University of Parma.

He is Full Professor in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine and Director of the School of Specialization in Geriatrics at the University of Milan-Bicocca. He is also director of the Acute Geriatrics Unit, Fondazione IRCCS S. Gerardo Hospital, Monza, Italy.

From 2012 to 2023 he was a member and teacher of the teaching body of the PhD in Public Health, University of Milan-Bicocca. From 2023 to today he has been a member and professor of the Public Health Epidemiology, Statistics and Economics of the University of Milan-Bicocca.

Prof Bellelli is President of the regional section of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (SIGG) and was national councilor of the same society from 2014 to 2022.

From 2020 to 2022 he was national vice president of the Italian Association of Psychogeriatrics (AIP) and is currently responsible for the thematic area on delirium for the same association.

From 2018 until September 2023 he was coordinator of the Special Interest Group on Delirium of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS).

Finally, Prof Bellelli is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ravasi Garzanti Onlus Foundation.

Main publications

Prof. Bellelli is the author or co-author of over 300 scientific publications in international journals (approximately 25% of which as first or corresponding author and 25% as last author). The total H-index is 48 on Scopus and 51 on Google Scholar. Prof. Bellelli is also the author of 3 books and numerous chapters in Italian and English. Prof. Bellelli is Associate Editor of BMC Geriatrics, Frontiers in Medicine Geriatric Medicine, Journal of Frailty Aging and Panminerva Medica.

He is also the winner of various projects funded on a competitive basis and is WP leader of the Extended Partnership spoke 8, PNRR: Age-It A novel public-private alliance to generate socioeconomic, biomedical and technological solutions for an inclusive Italian aging society.
