The Captains Regent: "He worked to make our University a community of which everyone feels part"
The Rector of the University of the Republic of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, was awarded the honor of the Equestrian Order of Sant'Agata with the rank of Knight Grand Officer.
During the ceremony, held on Friday 3 May at Palazzo Pubblico in the presence of institutional and academic representatives, in front of the Captains Regent Alessandro Rossi and Milena Gasperoni, the Secretary of State for Education and Culture Andrea Belluzzi described Petrocelli as a figure who " he was able to interpret the role conferred on him like perhaps none of the many personalities who from Italy and abroad have held positions in San Marino or representing the republic".
“Petrocelli – added Belluzzi – has tried to understand the complexities and strengths of this micro reality, giving a future perspective to our young and small University, making himself appreciated by our entire community for the daily human relationships he has been able to build in recent years with the entire social fabric".
“The awarding of this honor is intended as an expression of profound gratitude for having fulfilled and for continuing to fulfill this task with a spirit of service, humility and dedication, allowing the University, conceived by a group of visionaries led by the late Fausta Morganti, to grow in numbers, improve its training offer and fully integrate into the European context".
To the Rector of the University of San Marino, therefore, an honor that has roots in "a regulation from over a hundred years ago, with which the Equestrian Order of Sant'Agata was established, among the highest symbols of the statehood of San Marino ”, the heads of state recalled. In addition to underlining how much Petrocelli has "worked hard to make our University a community of which everyone feels part and in which everyone is important", Rossi and Gasperoni listened to the keynote address entitled "The University in an open and uncertain world ” curated by Patrizio Bianchi, former Italian Minister of Education, University and Research, as well as Rector Emeritus of the University of Ferrara.
Petrocelli finally said he was honored by the recognition: "I believe it includes a positive opinion on the work done and recognizes my passion and affection towards San Marino", his words. “I would like to share it with all those who have actively collaborated with me and with the University, believing in our commitment and making it possible to achieve gratifying results”.
