In this research, some historical notes will initially be shown to outline the path that led to the discovery of Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVD) and the developments up to the present day. Subsequently, the common etiological hypotheses of the disorder will be briefly outlined, to indicate what research to date has indicated as the most frequent and accredited causes of the manifestation of DNV. Continuing, ample space will be dedicated to the explanation of the criteria listed in the guidelines for formulating the diagnosis, with an overview of the tools largely used and recommended for the evaluation of children and young people with suspected DNV, indicating the expected results for the profile of the disorder in question. The second chapter will be dedicated to the discussion of the typical clinical characteristics of DNV. The typical profile will be outlined, with the explanation of the different strengths and weaknesses distinguished by domains of competence and, furthermore, an explanation of the different behavioral manifestations will be made and not divided by age. Still within the second chapter, a brief comparison will be made between DNV and the most commonly associated syndromes and with which it is most often confused to try to make a small contribution to the failure to identify DNV due to confusion with other disorders. The third and final chapter opens with a discussion of the difficulties that children and young people with DNV encounter, divided by school subject, with the aim of indicating to the reader (health professionals but also teachers, operators in general and parents) what to focus on attention in the phase of suspected disorder, both what the results of these children will be and what to expect from their abilities, having a realistic and concrete vision of the situation, so as not to lead to frustrating and uncomfortable feelings for children, parents and teachers. Finally, space will be given to the treatment which has the aim of analyzing the strengths and helping the subject to strengthen them and make them even more their own, to have them as a tool to compensate for difficulties.
