La dyslexia Dyslexia is a neurodevelopmental disorder that significantly impacts reading skills, with repercussions that can extend well beyond school age. This paper aims to explore the topic of dyslexia in adulthood, with the goal of highlighting the cognitive, emotional, and social implications associated with the disorder in adulthood. The underlying hypothesis is that the difficulties experienced in the school context do not end with growth, but can persist, also affecting work and social experiences.
The methodology employed in this thesis consists of an in-depth bibliographic review of relevant studies, accompanied by the analysis of authoritative scientific sources. By dividing the paper into five sections, it was possible to analyze the topic of adult dyslexia from different perspectives, with the aim of providing a comprehensive overview that considers nosographic, neuropsychological, emotional, evaluative, and intervention aspects.
A review of the literature highlights the significant psychological and neuropsychological impact that dyslexia can have even in adulthood, with evident repercussions not only on reading performance, but also on self-efficacy, work and social participation, as well as a greater risk of developing psychological problems such as anxiety and/or depression.
This work specifically emphasized the importance of integrating educational and social programs with planned neuropsychological interventions, ensuring equal opportunities for personal development and fostering greater inclusiveness.
