“This thesis was born with the aim of investigating a "branch" of the majestic "tree" of dyspraxia: verbal dyspraxia. In particular, the work aims to investigate the relationship between verbal dyspraxia and the functioning of executive functions.
The starting point is the definition of "dyspraxia" which is then related to the anatomical-functional bases of movement, taking into consideration the neuropsychological contributions on the relationship between language and movement.
Subsequently, after an overview of the executive functions, their importance with respect to learning, the development of praxis functions and linguistic skills is explored, underlining the close relationship there is with attention.
We then move on to the verbal dyspraxia "branch", paying particular attention to the symptoms and speech characteristics which are the fundamental elements for the diagnosis.
In the last part, after having defined specific language disorder (SLD), the relationship between executive functions and linguistic abilities is analyzed, highlighting the relationship between language, memory and attention.
The last part of the work contains indications regarding the rehabilitation intervention methodology in cases of DSL with dyspractic components and, subsequently, there is a reference to the semantic-pragmatic DSL both as regards the evaluation and as regards the rehabilitation approaches."
