Telerehabilitation is defined as the set of rehabilitation services provided through information and communication technologies, including assessment, monitoring, prevention, treatment, supervision, training, consultation and counseling. All aimed at improving access to rehabilitation services and allowing patients to be more independent (ATA- American Telemedicine Association)
In this thesis work, the Italian realities in which telerehabilitation is regularly applied were investigated. Despite having different objectives, in all these situations it emerged that telerehabilitation is a tool that allows you to:

  • Minimize barriers (distance, time, travel costs) between services and user
  • Promote adherence to speech therapy among patients distant from the service
  • Allow an optimal frequency of treatment

The only limits to its further development could be poor acceptance/knowledge of its effectiveness or technical IT problems.

The aim of this work is to investigate the possible applications of telerehabilitation for the treatment of DSA and what advantages it can bring. In particular, the Ridinet platform was analyzed with the apps that compose it.
Finally, an estimate from the MIUR indicates that we are witnessing an increase in DSA diagnoses of 0,6% per year. It therefore seems clear that child neuropsychiatry services must also be subjected to a process of reorganization and redefinition that makes them sustainable, understood as an optimization of existing resources to continue to guarantee adequate quality standards. This process can be favored by the application of telemedicine, thanks to the growing evidence of its effectiveness and the continuous development of technologies.
