Forms and cultures of war at the center of attention, together with Luciano Canfora, Franco Cardini and other academics
From Cicero to Machiavelli, from Carl von Clausewitz to Jean-Jacques Rosseau, the forms and cultures of war will be discussed at the University of the Republic of San Marino on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 September during the annual conference of the Italian History Association of political thought.
In various areas of the university headquarters of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, in the historic center of Titano, historians and academics such as Luciano Canfora, Franco Cardini, Carlo Galli, Donald Sassoon and Francesco Tuccari spoke for a series of insights and round tables in which characters and dynamics linked to the First and Second World War, the role of anarchists and women, as well as atomic conflicts and more will be examined, starting from the thought of the classics to arrive at the contemporary world.
The initiative falls within the framework of the new cycle of lessons for the PhD in Historical Sciences of the University of San Marino, starting on Thursday 28 September with the involvement of academics from institutions such as the University of London, the University of Siena, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Institute of Human and Social Sciences of Florence, the College de France and the universities of Bologna, Padua, Bari, Siena, Trento and beyond.
The calendar, which will run until October 20th, was edited by the Higher School of Historical Studies of the University of San Marino. The lessons are open to the public.
