The University of San Marino offers a Master's program for professionals tasked with addressing threats to peace and security.

A training program that fills a gap among "university study programs addressing the topic of international security, both in Italy and Europe." These are the words used by Roberto Mugavero, scientific director of the University Center for Security Education at the University of the Republic of San Marino, along with Luca Gorgolini, a researcher in the Department of History, describing the new Master's program in International Security Studies, offered by the University of San Marino together with the University of International Studies of Rome. Enrollment for the program, which will feature former Italian intelligence officials and armed forces officers, is open until February 20 and will include a schedule of classes divided between Rome and San Marino.

What needs does the training program arise from?

In today's globalized world, the security sector requires ever-increasing skills and professionalism. It is essential to understand and master the most appropriate tools for a rigorous and informed approach to the complexity of global challenges, which involve aspects such as law and international relations, geopolitics, social and political sciences, constitutional traditions, macroeconomics, global cooperation and development, as well as their philosophical underpinnings.

What topics will the Master's lessons focus on?

The topics covered will include regional crises, conflicts, tensions, and instability, the proliferation of nuclear and unconventional weapons, asymmetric conflicts, terrorism and transnational crime, the spread of extremism and fundamentalism, cyberwarfare and cybercrime, humanitarian crises, migration, international epidemics, financial market instability, climate change, and the threat to food and water resources. The study of current threat scenarios for global security and peace will enable understanding and analyzing strategies to counter emerging challenges, thanks to a training program featuring outstanding faculty and professionals.
