A series of seminars at the University of San Marino to "redeem our ability to think, design, and build."

The initiative, scheduled from tomorrow to Saturday, is curated by the Design degree course

"Driven by a sense of uncertainty, insecurity, weakness, and confusion, especially among younger generations, we believe that the current ecosystemic vision of Design, which blends technical, humanistic, and environmental fields, can help provide and establish positive constraints, principles, and values to which we can anchor ourselves and reshape our knowledge of thinking, designing, and building." This, in the words of the organizers, is the foundation upon which the "S/Confinare" seminars will develop. This initiative, curated by the University of the Republic of San Marino, will take place on San Marino and beyond from Thursday, May 28th to Saturday, May 30th, as part of the National Doctorate in Design for Made in Italy at the University of Campania.

The planned in-depth studies will fall within three thematic frameworks: author, space, and community. "Through multidisciplinary interventions," explain the staff of the University of San Marino's Design degree program, "we will seek to understand how boundaries open, shift, or consolidate, opening up new perspectives for reflection on identity, participation, and dwelling in the contemporary world."

Ten people are involved in curating the scheduled seminars, which are based on studies, insights, and reworkings related to the authors' doctoral research projects and theses. In addition to the lectures, offered at the university's Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, the program includes a "social walk" and a panoramic tour of Mount Titano's historic center, a visit to San Leo to discover the activities of the "Fer-Menti Leontine" cooperative, and a guided tour of the San Patrignano social cooperative's manufacturing center, which hosts training and artisanal production workshops.

The Design degree program specifies that the planned activities will allow for the intertwining of theoretical reflection and concrete case studies, fostering dialogue between researchers, teachers, designers, cultural institutions, and local stakeholders, drawing on diverse voices and expertise.

The project's scientific speakers are Elena Brigi, Massimo Brignoni, and Riccardo Varini, who will be presenting alongside Silvia Gasparotto, Giorgio Dall'Osso, Sergio Brugiolo, Ilaria Ruggeri, Margo Lengua, Anna Guerra, Linda F. Amodeo, and Noemi Biasetton. The initiative is coordinated by Alice Cappelli, Angela Ferraro, Federica Pugliese, and Rossella Ronca, students in the national doctorate program in Design for Made in Italy at the University of Campania.
