The University of the Republic of San Marino has opened a selection process for a researcher and a research fellow for the Design degree program. Regarding the former, the competition announcement states that "the researcher will develop and apply methodologies in product and process design, exploring the contribution of design in multidisciplinary fields. The richness of cultural and material heritage," the document continues in the section describing the research area, "presents both a challenge and an opportunity. The project aims to mediate between assets to be preserved and a future to be built. Through innovative approaches, open processes, and the application of consolidated and experimental methodologies, design can activate dynamics of valorization and innovation that can be applied to institutional, corporate, and public utility contexts. The position entails theoretical and applied research activities," in addition to "teaching related courses" in the areas described. The position will last three years.
Regarding the twelve-month research grant, the call for applications states that the activity "will aim to gather the most significant experiences of recent years in which design practice has played a significant role in local development processes in the Mediterranean region and emerging countries." The requirements include, among other things, "co-creation of a dedicated digital platform with market research, data collection, texts, and images, classification of studies by compiling typological profiles, and participation in applied research activities during workshops held at the University of San Marino or abroad."
The call for applications for research positions, which closes on December 13th, is open to "candidates, both from San Marino and elsewhere, who hold a PhD or equivalent qualification." The selection for the research grant is open to those under 35 who have earned a master's degree in Design or Architecture. Applications are open until November 29th.
