A short story competition for migrants is coming: 100 works will be selected.

One hundred unpublished and autobiographical stories told by migrants, giving a voice to those who often don't have one. This is what will be collected thanks to the "Diari Multimediali Migranti" (DiMMi) initiative, a project involving a network spread across the peninsula with the aim of preserving collective and popular memory, as well as working in the fields of reception, integration, and inclusion.

The project's scientific committee also includes the University of the Republic of San Marino, with its Emigration Research Center — Emigrant Museum, which has announced a competition, closing June 30, through which interested parties can submit their stories.

Texts, photographs, drawings, videos, music, and more are permitted, provided they are autobiographical and not fictionalized, and therefore authentic. There are three categories: men, women, and young people up to 18 years of age.

The winning works will be announced during the 33rd edition of the Pieve Saverio Tutino Prize, scheduled for next September in Pieve Santo Stefano, in the province of Arezzo. "The project, which is aimed at migrants present in Italy and San Marino, aims to enhance the wealth of experience and knowledge of migrants, who are invited to share their stories by recounting their lives before and after emigration," explains Patrizia Di Luca, director of the Emigration Research Center at the University of San Marino. "It's an initiative that aims to provide space for attentive listening to the people around us who come from other countries."

The project is funded by the Tuscany Region. Further information is available on the Diary Archives website, www.archiviodiari.org, and on the University of San Marino website, www.unirsm.sm.
