A lifetime achievement award and an honorable mention are the recognitions received by two professors of the Design degree programs at the University of the Republic of San Marino during the 2020 edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro, an initiative with which the Association for Industrial Design has recognized companies, professionals, and schools since 1954.
Marco Ferreri, head of the Product Design Laboratory, received the Compasso d'Oro for Lifetime Achievement, while Sergio Menichelli, head of the Visual Communication Design Laboratory and founder of Studio FM in Milan, received an honorable mention for his book project "The Cork Book," which explores the characteristics, uses, and potential of cork. The ceremony took place on September 9th at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.
"These results, which include the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Ferreri for courageously expressing methodological coherence in his thinking and work, confirm the exceptional caliber of our faculty and the unique educational opportunities available to our students," comments Riccardo Varini, Deputy Director of the three-year degree program in Design. "Our students can participate in a growth journey alongside some of the best Italian and international design talents. The awards bestowed by the Association for Industrial Design are prestigious ones that make us particularly proud."
