Not only will there be live music, theater performances, discussions with nationally renowned academics, and seminars during the University of the Republic of San Marino's Notte Bianca (White Night). There will also be exhibitions, film screenings, and a DJ set that will entertain the public until late. In the spaces of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, at Contrada Omerelli 20, in the historic center of San Marino, exhibitions will be open from 16:24 PM to midnight. These include an illustration competition featuring the female characters depicted in Andrea Camilleri's book "Donne" (Women). The public will be able to vote for their favorite work and contribute to an event that combines art and literature, curated by the Design program. Our Civil Engineering colleagues will also be offering a non-stop screening of the film "La bicicletta verde" (The Green Bicycle), the story of a girl living in Saudi Arabia who confronts a society that is, in some ways, difficult for women.
In parallel, artist Nidaa Badwan will create a live sculpture on the theme of this year's Notte Bianca at the University of San Marino, dedicated to women's roles and sensibilities in fields ranging from science to the arts, summarized in the title "Mending the World." The Museo dell'Emigrante will present a selection of women's testimonies from the archives of the Emigration Research Center with the exhibition "Domani avrò tue notizie?" (Will I Hear From You Tomorrow?), while the Confucius Institute will host a series of initiatives that include, among other things, traditional dances and demonstrations of traditional Chinese medicine. Finally, an installation will be presented by Mediterranea18, the biennial of young artists from which the project "House is Not a Home" by the Francesco Mancuso group was selected.
Among other events, starting at 7:00 PM, a refreshment stand will be open at the Cantone del Macello, serving Terra di San Marino-branded burgers made with products from the Breeders' Cooperative. From 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Usmaradio, the University of San Marino's radio station directed by Roberto Paci Dalò, will be open. From 10:00 PM, music by the "Radiøcal-chic" collective will enliven the gardens of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara. The evening will kick into high gear at midnight, with faculty and students taking turns at the decks, followed by a set by DJ Pesce.
Admission is free to all events, which also include seminars, debates, and other events from 15:30 PM onwards. For more information: www.unirsm.sm/nottebianca.
