Telemedicine is the star of an award presented by the Center for Research and Teaching in Biomedical Studies.
"Telemedicine for Frailty": this is the phrase chosen by the University of the Republic of San Marino to describe the framework for a prize awarded to the best research on the topic in a competition open to holders of a specialist, master's, or old-system degree in any discipline.
The dynamics related to the provision of remote healthcare services will be analyzed, mainly through the internet and digital devices, to connect doctors and patients who are in different locations.
The call for proposals for the initiative, organized by the Center for Research and Teaching in Biomedical Studies at the University of San Marino, identifies several areas of study that could inspire research: prisons, for example, or patients in facilities that treat disabled and psychiatric patients. The interest in electronic monitoring devices for chronic diseases (which automatically notify physicians of any abnormal parameters) as well as formulas for developing the independence of the elderly is also highlighted. Other proposed frameworks for analysis include legal, medico-legal, and economic aspects, among others.
Original and unpublished research must be submitted by February 28, 2026. The winner will receive a cash prize. The paper will also be published by the University of San Marino.
The scientific directors of the initiative are two academics from the University of San Marino: Nicolò Scuderi, director of the Center for Research and Teaching in Biomedical Studies, and Luca Cimino, director of the advanced training course in Clinical and Forensic Victimology.
