The logo for the 18th International Congress of Lions Walled Cities was created by students of the Design degree course at the University of San Marino.

The logo for the 18th International Congress of Lions Walled Cities, scheduled for June 4-6, 2021, was created by a student from the University of the Republic of San Marino as part of a competition involving nine students enrolled in the Design degree program. Luca Montironi, a 25-year-old from Macerata, took first place in the selection process, which involved a jury composed of representatives from the Lions Club of San Marino Undistricted and the University of San Marino. Carlo Alberto Tacchi, a 22-year-old from Pesaro, took second place, while Jessica Guazzini, a 22-year-old from Rimini, took third place.

Montironi's project will feature an event through which several Lions Clubs, operating in areas still surrounded by ancient walls and united in the International Association of Walled Cities, will organize to promote history and mutual understanding, as well as propose solutions to problems affecting issues such as livability, trafficability, and lighting, typical of these contexts.

The prizes for the top three, totaling €1.200, were awarded during a ceremony held at the university campus of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, in the historic center of Mount Titano, on Tuesday, October 13th.

"The proposed logo," Montironi explains in his project report, "is intended to highlight the fundamental elements of the International Association of Walled Cities and the location where the congress will be held. The city walls, the battlements, the three towers, and the hill on which they stand are the key elements on which the proposal is based. The walls and their details are the emblems of the numerous clubs that make up the Association. The three towers and the territory of San Marino are the distinctive features that highlight the location where the congress will be held and membership in the Association itself."
