On Wednesday 8 March a discussion with academics, institutions and associations: "We will talk about the seriousness of ordinary and everyday situations"
"Violence against women does not only manifest itself in physical violence, but in an equally dramatic way in a culture, such as the Western one, in which the possibilities of affirmation and emancipation are lower than those of men". This situation, described by Luigi Guerra, director of the Department of Human Sciences of the University of the Republic of San Marino, will be tackled and discussed on Wednesday 8 March in a round table scheduled for 15 pm in the main hall of the university building in viale Onofri 87. The title: “Maid: from series to society – analyzing the various forms of domestic and gender-based violence”.
Organized by the Gender Identity Education Laboratory of the University of San Marino, the initiative will see the participation of a series of academics and institutional representatives, as well as the world of associations. In addition to the director of the Department of Human Sciences, the general director of the University, Isabella Bizzocchi, the director of the Emigration Research Center, Patrizia Di Luca, the professors Karen Venturini and Maria Elena D'Amelio will take part. The floor also to Sebastiano Bastianelli, in force at the Permanent Observatory on the Youth Condition, Mario Masini, president of the Border Association, and Maria Domenica Michelotti, president of the Soroptimist Club - San Marino, who offered the patronage together with the San Marino Women's Union . Finally, the participation of the Authority for Equal Opportunities is expected.
“The sensitivity already shown by the territory towards the event, with numerous realities that wanted to participate and intervene, is a good sign”, comments Guerra. “On Wednesday we will talk about the gravity of ordinary and everyday situations, an iceberg that is sometimes unknown and plunged under the tip of violence. They don't make the news because they don't bleed, but they still produce the most serious obstacles to the realization of gender equality".
The scheduled confrontation will be inspired by the Netflix series "Maid", inspired by Stephanie Land's autobiographical memoir "Cleaning lady - hard work, low pay and a mother's will to survive", to develop an analysis on the intertwining between violence physical, verbal, psychological and economic.
