A book written by a professor at the University of San Marino was donated to the Captains Regent to "engage very young children with the first mathematical concepts."

"The passion and strong motivation that drove me to write the book were fully captured." These are the words with which Chiara Giacomoni, professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of San Marino, summarized the feelings she had during the recent meeting in which she presented the Captains Regent of San Marino, Gian Carlo Venturini and Marco Nicolini, with copies of her book "The Extraordinary Story of Zero." "The response was one of great empathy," she explains. "The images and texts were appreciated for their deepest meaning."

The professor, who primarily teaches the Civil Engineering and Management Engineering degree programs at the University of the Republic of San Marino, as well as the three-year Construction and Land Management program, published the fable in recent months and has been involved in initiatives involving students at San Marino schools: "This project has many mathematical and social implications. The goal is to excite young children about basic mathematical concepts and make mathematics more fluid, relevant, and understandable for everyone."

The book is published by Pane e Sale. The illustrations are by Manuel Bruno. The meeting, which took place on September 8th, was attended by Vito Testaj, representing the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture.
