DOUBLE PRIZE FOR DESIGN STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN MARINO

Graziana Florio for the Republic of San Marino and Simona Girardi for Italy, students of the master's degree in design at the University of San Marino, have both been selected to participate in the international project LANDXCAPES.

The special project LandXcapes, dedicated to the changes undergone by the Apulian territory due to the epidemic of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, which affected entire olive groves, is a multidisciplinary cultural project for the integrated valorization of Salento's identity and landscape heritage, through the languages of art, storytelling, and landscape.

LandXcapes It is funded by the Puglia Region in collaboration with the Biennial of Young Mediterranean Artists

The 60 artists, including 10 in the design section, selected for the residency program will be guided by tutors with expertise in the disciplines indicated and will be able to visit the areas affected by Xylella, speaking with farmers, olive producers, residents of the affected areas, scholars and researchers.

The artists' work will take place on site, in the territories selected for each of the artistic disciplines indicated in the call for proposals. During their residencies, the artists will engage with the places and return to them the artistic work produced in that specific location. The selection of artists will span a variety of artistic disciplines: performers, writers, storytellers, videomakers, visual artists, cultural researchers, and designers will approach the theme from diverse perspectives, thanks to the diverse backgrounds of the selected artists. This is a way to raise awareness, explain, and disseminate a Euro-Mediterranean reflection on landscape protection and enhancement.

Il October 19, 2018 In Lecce, the artists' works will be officially presented to regional and national authorities.
