“The news of the passing of Professor Fausta Morganti leaves us stunned and deeply saddened.”
These are the words with which the Rector of the University of the Republic of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, spoke on behalf of the University Community in memory of a key figure in the birth and development of San Marino's academic community. "For anyone who knew her," he continued, "Fausta has always been a point of reference for the depth, firmness, and consistency of her convictions, as well as her remarkable ability to translate them into actions of great significance.

A teacher passionate about her work, she quickly distinguished herself for her expertise and enlightened reformist spirit. She earned widespread recognition, leading her to serve for many years on the Great and General Council (beginning with the introduction of women's right to vote), to hold the positions of Secretary of State for Education, Justice, and Culture, and then as Captain Regent.

She was also appointed Permanent Representative to the OSCE. While there are many initiatives that deserve recognition for her tenacious, far-sighted, and passionate commitment (such as the founding of the International Academy of Sciences of San Marino, the reform of the school system, and support for cultural policies), among these stands out her determined determination to establish the first University of the Republic of San Marino, selecting among its founders some of the most prominent figures of the time. The University remained close to her heart: we discussed the University (and much more) on several occasions, where I had the privilege of enjoying her friendship, once again highlighting the penetrating insight and broad horizon of her vision.

With her passing, an exceptional example of high-level politics—selfless, visionary, yet profoundly effective—is lost, and above all, one focused not on gaining immediate and therefore ephemeral consensus, but on laying the foundations for the country's development and growth. The entire university community mourns her passing and extends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to her family.
