Two new volumes from the University of the Republic of San Marino were presented to Their Excellencies the Captains Regent, Stefano Palmieri and Matteo Ciacci, during an audience in which the heads of state of San Marino met with representatives of San Marino's academic community. On Friday, September 14, the book "Historical Archives of the Parish Church of San Marino – Inventory," edited by Sonia Ferri and Allegra Paci, and the digital ebook "The Republic of San Marino from the Cold War to Globalization – Official Speeches in International Relations, Culture, and Political Communication (1948–2013)," by Sante Cruciani and Raffaello Ares Doro, were presented at the Palazzo Pubblico. Both texts are part of the activities of the Sammarinese Center for Historical Studies.
The first work stems from the reorganization of the Pieve's archive, which involved five hundred documents from 1526 onward: "The complete lack of supporting documents and the state of the documentation, arranged haphazardly and indiscriminately within 120 containers, mostly devoid of meaningful labels, prevented us from determining the exact nature of the documents, nor from identifying the various entities that, in addition to the Pieve, had contributed to their production," the authors explain. "Following the reorganization and the compilation of the analytical inventory presented here," a text is offered that represents "a testimony to the Pieve as a parish and mother church of the territory" and more.
"Taking its cue from the official speeches for the inauguration of the Captains Regent," Cruciani and Doro explain in their ebook, "the volume traces the history of San Marino's foreign policy, highlights the transnational intellectual networks that accompanied it, and highlights its resonances in the local and national press," in film reports, and in television productions. "The official speeches by figures from the worlds of politics, culture, journalism, and television," the two academics continue, "thus intertwine with the history of the republic and its impact on the international political scene and in political communication circles."
