Developed to meet the needs of adults and stimulate the creativity of children, the results of the research project “Bartolo – sedie in cammino”, carried out by the University of the Republic of San Marino on the occasion of “Pesaro 2024 – Italian capital of culture”, were among the protagonists of the final day of a journey that last year saw the capital of the Marche register over 110 thousand visitors and more than a thousand events.

On Saturday 11 January, in the spaces of the Galleria Rossini, an exhibition was set up in which tools and prototypes of the main product born from the partnership between the degree courses in Design of the University of San Marino and the community of Pesaro were displayed: it is a seat for five people, made mainly of wood and fabric, foldable and capable of adapting to different needs, especially in the context of the hundreds of events that characterized the city in 2024.

A smaller version was also created for children, equipped with a series of accessories such as curtains and tables, to be assembled and hooked together to create environments and atmospheres dedicated to play. Finally, for the little ones, a kit was created that involved them in a workshop organized on the sidelines of the exhibition: “We provided them with the same pieces that make up the seat for adults but on a smaller scale, reduced ten times compared to the originals. With wood, fabric and ropes – explains Francesco Mancuso, researcher at the University of San Marino – the children created castles, toy cars, robots and more”.

At the same time, the seat dedicated to adults was used by presenters and guests during some phases of the official ceremony with which the city brought down the curtain on 2024: on the stage of the Scavolini Auditorium, among others, the mayor Andrea Biancani, the MEP Matteo Ricci, the president of the Marche Region Francesco Acquaroli, the actor and director Neri Marcorè spoke.
