“An event of international importance which put the most representative academics in the sector in contact with enterprising young researchers in the field of infrastructure, stimulating the exchange of knowledge and ideas without frontiers”. These are the words with which Andrea Grilli, professor and researcher in the Civil Engineering degree course at the University of the Republic of San Marino, describes the International Summer School on roads and the environment hosted last week by the University of San Marino and organized by the Italian Road Infrastructures. Involved a network of realities that included the Autonomous State Company for Public Works and the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli.
"We addressed topics such as the design, construction, maintenance and management of infrastructures in relation to the effects of climate change", explains the professor. “These are absolutely topical areas of great interest, both at a scientific and social level. The 2019 edition of this international Summer School saw the participation of students and teachers of Italian, San Marino, Portuguese, Polish, Pakistani, Maltese, Libyan, Croatian, Chinese, Brazilian and Slovak nationality".
The initiative also stood out for the contribution given to the network of subjects involved in road maintenance and in the planning of a sustainable future: "The close synergy with the institutions, including the Secretariats of State which sponsored the event, made it possible to create new relationships with prominent industry representatives, with exchanges of views and the possibility of consolidating new projects. I feel particular satisfaction - concludes Grilli - for the Best Impact Research award given to Alex Balzi, research fellow of our university and author of a study supported by the Autonomous State Company for Public Works. This is an important international acknowledgment that highlights the work carried out by the University and AASLP to improve the management of the Titano road network”.
