The University of the Republic of San Marino will celebrate Europe Day, scheduled for May 9, with a screening of the film "The Great European Disaster Movie." Director Annalisa Piras, a former correspondent for the weekly magazine 'L'Espresso,' and journalist Bill Emmott, former editor of 'The Economist,' explore the potential effects of the dismemberment of the European Union, focusing in particular on the effects of independence movements and nationalism.
The initiative is organized by Punto Europa San Marino, the information desk on the European Union managed by the Research Centre for International Relations of the University of San Marino, which for the occasion collaborated with the Cultural Institutes.
"The film, which will be preceded by a critical introduction, tells of a dystopian future in which, aboard a turbulent airplane, an archaeologist tells a little girl what happened to people's lives with the end of the European Union," explains Michele Chiaruzzi, director of the Center for Research on International Relations. "The film alternates narration and testimonies, straddling documentary and fiction. Following the screening, audience members will be able to share comments and ask questions."
The screening will be held at the Teatro Titano at 21 pm. Admission is free.
