The Emigration Research Center of the University of the Republic of San Marino hosted Their Excellencies the Captains Regent, Stefano Palmieri and Matteo Ciacci, yesterday for a visit. They explained and explored the organization's activities, which aim to reconstruct and preserve the history and memory of San Marino emigration, highlighting its social, political, and economic aspects. This is achieved through initiatives such as the collection and promotion of testimonies and documents preserved in the Emigrant Museum, located in the historic center of San Marino, which also houses a library, a film library, and a traveling exhibition.
"The heads of state," explains Patrizia Di Luca, director of the Emigration Research Center, "expressed their closeness to all communities of San Marino citizens living abroad and recalled a part of San Marino history marked by commitment and generosity. The visit began with the reading of an excerpt from the autobiography of a young San Marino citizen born in Paris to immigrant parents, preserved in the archives of our Research Center. The stages of the migration experience, faced with courage and solidarity, were also retraced. The Captains Regent," Di Luca concludes, "underscored the importance of this place of remembrance, where so many San Marino citizens can trace their family history."
