The Civil Engineering degree program will plan road maintenance in Fano, using eco-sustainable technologies.

This morning, the memorandum of understanding was signed at the San Marino University, affecting approximately 40 km of the road network managed by the administration.

The University of the Republic of San Marino will work alongside the Municipality of Fano on the upcoming road network upgrade managed by the administration, implementing a green approach that respects the environment and utilizes the most advanced technologies available. The memorandum of understanding between the two parties was signed this morning at the University of San Marino's Civil Engineering Degree Program, which will oversee all aspects of the project.

The president of the degree program, Angelo Marcello Tarantino, signed the document together with the mayor of Fano, Massimo Seri, thus officially launching the formal procedures that precede a series of maintenance works that will affect approximately 10% of the municipality's road network. Of the approximately 400 km of roads managed by the administration, the operation will involve approximately 40 km, for a budget of approximately four million euros. The funds will be used for the physical implementation of the works, which will be entrusted to specialized companies.

Specifically, the roads with the worst passability ratings will be affected, the tourist areas of the Fano coast, the axes serving the industrial zone, and the busiest strategic arteries, where work will begin in the spring.

The eco-sustainable technologies involved include, among other things, a surface sealing and roughening treatment that improves adhesion between the tire and the pavement, performed at room temperature with significant energy savings and without producing fumes or noise. Part of the material used will also come from the demolition of old roads, a solution that combines the advantages of cold production with those of recycling materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Today's achievement marks a further step in the collaboration between the University of San Marino's Civil Engineering Degree Program and the Municipality of Fano. Until now, the collaboration has been an experimental phase, now consolidated, in the field of research into road maintenance methodologies aimed at planning and implementing eco-sustainable techniques.
