Academics and experts from institutions such as the Polytechnic University of Milan, the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, and the School of Art & Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will be featured in "Updating Values," an international conference co-curated by the University of Bologna and the University of the Republic of San Marino, scheduled for January 16 and 17 at the Kursaal Congress Center in San Marino.
The event, which is expected to attract approximately 180 attendees, offers an opportunity to explore contemporary programs, emerging directions, and future challenges in design education, focusing on experiences, case studies, and projects. Aimed primarily at students, educators, researchers, professionals, and business representatives, the conference is the second instalment of an academic research project promoted by the University of Bologna to analyze the dynamics and transformations underway in this field, under the title "FutureDesignEd Symposium – Innovation in Design Education, Innovation in Education by Design”.
Keynote speakers include Alice Twemlow, professor at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), in the Netherlands, and author of landmark books such as “What is graphic design for?”, and Piero Formica, professor of Knowledge Economics and researcher at Maynooth University, Ireland, who received the 2017 Innovation Luminary Award from the European Union’s Open Innovation Strategy and Policy Group.
