Sammarinese Parliament unanimously approves Strategic Plan 2024-26

Secretary of State Lonfernini: “The University is called to be a beacon and a driving force”

The Great and General Council, the parliamentary assembly of the Republic of San Marino, yesterday unanimously approved the University's three-year strategic planning document 2024-26, edited by Rector Corrado Petrocelli and Director General Laura Gobbi.

The move "represents a sign of confidence in the path undertaken" by the University of San Marino, "which in the last ten years has demonstrated a notable capacity for growth and adaptation to social changes", reads a note from the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture.

"Its vocation is not limited to the mere transmission of knowledge, but extends to the ability to intercept changes, anticipate future needs and forge the skills necessary to address them. This implies a constant commitment to teaching, research and the so-called 'third mission', that is, all those activities aimed at generating public value and improving the well-being of the community".

In this regard, Secretary of State Teodoro Lonfernini described the University as a "vital hub, a laboratory of ideas and skills that are indispensable for the progress and well-being of our country. In a world that is constantly changing - he continued - our University is called to be a beacon and a driving force, a custodian of knowledge and an incubator of innovation, preparing the citizens of tomorrow for the challenges of an increasingly complex and interconnected future".

The document approved by parliament, which indicates the expected goals and the resources needed to achieve them, foresees a 30% growth in enrollments, new scholarships, more funding for research and an increase in the number of degree and specialization courses offered, together with an expansion of the facilities and the creation of a student residence, which is currently absent.
