The risk of earthquakes for Mount Titan's historic buildings: a seminar at the University of San Marino discusses the issue.

How can we prevent earthquake damage to San Marino's historic buildings, balancing the need to preserve their character and ensure safety? This is one of the questions that will be addressed at the heart of the seminar "Seismic Risk in Historic Monumental Buildings," scheduled for Friday, March 31, at 14:30 PM in the Montelupo Hall in Domagnano.

The event, organized by the Civil Engineering Degree Program at the University of the Republic of San Marino, will feature presentations by Leo Marino Morganti, President of the San Marino Monuments Commission, and Daniela Reffi of the Structural Control Service. Their contributions will focus on the vulnerability of historic buildings and the regulations currently in force in the Republic. Francesco Doglioni, Professor of Restoration at the Iuav University of Venice, and Alberto Moretti, a structural engineer and seismic risk expert, will share their fieldwork. Their presentations will focus, respectively, on "First assessments of the seismic behavior of historic buildings repaired after the 1997 Umbria-Marche earthquake in 2016" and "Structural repair and seismic improvement interventions in historic-monumental buildings."

"This event," explains Antonella Salvatori, professor of the three-year degree program in Civil Engineering and coordinator of the initiative, "is intended to offer an opportunity for reflection on a sensitive and extremely timely topic, one that requires identifying relevant practices that can preserve our historical heritage from both a physical and historical-cultural perspective."

The seminar, sponsored by the Secretariat of State for Territory, Environment and Tourism, is organized in collaboration with the Order of Engineers and Architects of San Marino, the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists of the Province of Rimini, and the Order of Engineers of the Province of Rimini.
