The Italian judicial system and the gap with Europe: a book edited by the director of the San Marino Court will be presented on Friday.

What does the Italian judicial system need to bridge the gap with European standards? This is the question that will form the backdrop to the presentation of the book "Justice for a Reform with a European Focus," scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Kursaal del Titano Congress Center on Friday, November 19. The event is organized by the University of the Republic of San Marino, together with the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture, the Secretariat of State for Justice, and the Order of Lawyers and Notaries.

The document, signed by Giovanni Canzio, Director of the Court of San Marino, and Francesca Fiecconi, Counsel to the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, proposes, among other things, regulatory changes and financial investments in personnel and digital infrastructure, taking into account the necessary balance between the objective of reducing the length of proceedings and ensuring a fair trial.

The event, which will bring together professionals, academics, institutional representatives, and others, will feature presentations by Paolo Pascucci, director of the University's San Marino Legal Institute; Pietro Curzio, first president of the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation; and Renzo Orlandi, professor of Criminal Procedural Law at the University of Bologna. "This is an opportunity to reflect on modern justice from a European perspective," Pascucci observes, "starting from the Italian experience and broadening our horizons to a continental dimension from which San Marino cannot remain isolated. Even though it is not a member of the EU," the academic emphasizes, "San Marino has taken several steps toward the European process and must consider the issue of efficient and rapid justice as a boundless issue. Discussing this issue with the authors and the expected high-level guests can also be a positive contribution to the ongoing reforms in this area within the Republic."

The presentation of the book, published by Vita e Pensiero, is sponsored by the Captains Regent and the Congress of State. Contributions are expected from the Rector of the University of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli; the President of the Order of Lawyers and Notaries, Maria Selva; the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, Andrea Belluzzi; and the Secretary of State for Justice, Massimo Andrea Ugolini. Admission is by reservation or invitation only.
