Michele Chiaruzzi, director of the Research Center for International Relations at the University of the Republic of San Marino, will be among the speakers at the conference "European Microstates: Cooperation and Diplomacy," scheduled for Thursday, October 26, in Barcelona at the Institute of Catalan Studies, which is organizing the initiative in partnership with the University of Strasbourg.
The academic's presentation, entitled "Diplomacy and European Integration: The Case of San Marino," will be part of a broader analysis of the continent's microstates, including Andorra and Malta. The series began last September and runs until February 2018. "The invitation to the conference demonstrates the scholarly interest in analyzing the University of San Marino's path to Euro-San Marino integration and, more generally, San Marino's international relations," explains Chiaruzzi. "It also confirms our University's full place in the European context as an academic institution capable of enriching, with its perspective, international reflection on the political dynamics of today's Europe." On the sidelines of the conference, Chiaruzzi will meet Joandomènec Ros Aragonès, president of the Institute of Catalan Studies, founded in 1907 and admitted in 1922 to the International Academic Union, the oldest federation in the field with the aim of international cooperation.
