"A further and essential opportunity to continue the challenging and constant growth of the University of San Marino." This, in the words of the Rector of the University of the Republic of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, represents the opportunity represented by the adaptation of the San Marino University to the standards required by the Bologna Process, the mechanism that promotes intergovernmental cooperation between European countries in the field of higher education, which the Republic joined about a year ago.
It is precisely within this framework that a series of meetings is taking place in San Marino yesterday and today, involving international institutional representatives from the world of education and training, along with the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture, the Department of Education, and the University.
During a meeting held yesterday at Palazzo Begni, Petrocelli outlined "achievements achieved, new objectives, achievements, and successes achieved on various fronts, delving deeper into the characteristics of San Marino's academic institution and gaining an understanding of the steps required of the Republic for a full and complete path toward European integration, which includes inclusion in the European Higher Education Area." In this regard, "a revision of the 2014 law is crucial to guarantee the University the effective autonomy that European standards require. Doing so by 2022," the Rector concluded, "would be ideal."
