Murano glass works by students from the University of San Marino are on display in the Cassa di Risparmio Gallery.

A series of Murano glass works, created with the contribution of students from the Design degree program at the University of the Republic of San Marino, will be on display throughout the month of November in the Galleria della Cassa di Risparmio, in the historic center of San Marino.

The exhibition, which features six works accompanied by some of the tools used, as well as images and descriptions of the processes involved, is the result of a collaboration between the University and the San Marino banking institution, ready to seize this new opportunity to present to the public the results of a project that tested several innovative techniques for blowing Murano artistic glass, in collaboration with the Murano glassworks Nasonmoretti.

Specifically, the students, coordinated by teachers Massimo Barbierato and Gaetano Giuliano, presented a series of mold prototypes to test their potential and potential uses, as part of an effort to revitalize the craftsmanship of the Venetian art district.

"I'm convinced that the true limit in innovating a material lies not in the material itself, but in the approach one takes to it," explains Barbierato. "In my opinion, anything can bounce, be stretched or compressed, bent or remain straight. Be rough or smooth, light or heavy. Even glass. In this context," continues the professor from the University of San Marino, "the idea of organizing a course on the mold-blown glass production process was born. The students weren't asked to think about any specific functional typology for glass, but rather to envision a change. In some cases, this could be linked to the introduction of new technologies or materials, in others, to reusing existing production techniques but applying them to other materials such as metals, clay, fabrics, and wood."

"Showcasing the works of students from the University of San Marino, true masterpieces that embellish our historic center, fills us with pride," comments Gianfranco Vento, CEO of the bank. "Cassa di Risparmio is very pleased with this new collaboration with the University of San Marino. Giving space and visibility to future designers is part of our mission." mission of Cassa system bank, for the benefit of the entire community".
