The Aula Magna of the Management Engineering degree course at the University of San Marino is named after Alberto Ivo Dormio.

The Aula Magna at the World Trade Center campus in Dogana was named yesterday after Alberto Ivo Dormio, director of the Management Engineering degree programs at the University of the Republic of San Marino until his passing in 2020.

During the afternoon ceremony, which included academics and institutional representatives, as well as family members, Rector Corrado Petrocelli recalled his "great humanity and gentlemanly demeanor, a man of times past. Within our University," he continued, "he demonstrated generosity and availability in every circumstance, unflinchingly addressing both large and small problems, including those affecting individual students. "He never wanted," the Rector stated, "to leave anyone behind."

Petrocelli's words, echoed by Anna Corradi, director of the Department of Economics, Science, and Law: "Alberto was a wonderful person, always available to give advice," she explained, "and to ask for it. He knew how to be close to people. I miss him greatly."

The Aula Magna, where lectures and dissertations are primarily held, thus becomes a tribute to an academic who embodied, with his conduct and spirit, the principal characteristics of the University of San Marino: "Humanity and empathy, thanks to people like Dormio, are the soul of this University," said the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, Andrea Belluzzi.

The ceremony marked, for the third time in 2022, a moment dedicated to one of the key figures in the foundation and development of the San Marino university system. In March, the Aula Magna of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, the space where the Design degree courses primarily take place, was named after Fausta Morganti, while since June, the Aula Magna of the Former Courthouse, home to the Sammarinese Law Institute and the Department of History, has been named after Lanfranco Ferroni. Both are located in the historic center.

The World Trade Center in Dogana offers training programs such as the degree courses in Management Engineering and Civil Engineering, as well as the three-year course in Construction and Land Management.
