Over 50 pages divided into approximately 200 texts are being digitized, allowing everyone, both within and outside the academic world, and from all over the world, access to one of the most important collections on the art of memory: the Young Collection. This is the work currently being undertaken by the Library of the University of the Republic of San Marino, leading a project that will culminate with the creation of a dedicated website where the collected texts will be available for consultation, thus meeting the requests that arrive each year from across Europe. The ongoing scanning effort, led by the San Marino-based company Data Project, is funded by Banca Agricola Commerciale and is possible thanks to the use of a dedicated, state-of-the-art machine that allows for the best possible image capture without damaging the texts, some of which are manuscripts, dating from the fourteenth to the nineteenth centuries. This marks a further step forward in enhancing the value of the collection, which arrived in San Marino in 1991 thanks to the vision of Umberto Eco, who identified the acquisition of the Young Collection as the most suitable way to enrich the University library. The project, called "The Library of Memory – Digitization of the Ancient Section of the Young Collection," involves a staff of seven, from scientific coordination to the physical scanning of the texts. The collection stands out as one of the richest collections of books, articles, and memorabilia on the subject of memory and mnemonics in existence today.
