Usmaradio, the radio station of the University of the Republic of San Marino, opens its microphones and opens its doors to the public for its inauguration, scheduled for 18:30 PM on Tuesday, February 21st in the spaces of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, the main seat of the University of San Marino, located in the historic center of San Marino.
A series of live broadcasts and electronic music performances will mark the start of a 24/7 program, during which students, faculty, and collaborators will create a meeting place for people from all disciplines. Space will be given to designers, artists, scientists, researchers, inventors, hackers, educators, journalists, economists, historians, cartographers, and activists, all under the banner of art, science, and nature.
Future workshops and sessions will also be organized under the umbrella of "The School of Radio," which will examine the theory and practice of radio: sound art, network projects, new radio drama, the relationship with text, soundscape, software, hardware, and live media. Usmaradio thus presents itself as a radio that goes beyond radio, also conceived as an exhibition space for presenting exhibitions that explore sound, in collaboration with local and international organizations.
During Tuesday's presentation, it will be possible to meet the director of the facility, Roberto Paci Dalò, and discuss the opportunities offered by the competition that will select the station manager, who will be responsible for, among other things, hosting and producing podcasts. The competition announcement, for which applications are currently open, can be found on the University website, www.unirsm.sm.
Finally, in conjunction with the inauguration of Usmaradio, the new self-managed student space will be presented, an area of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara that is always open and available to the campus. From 9:00 p.m., the events will move to the Cooperativa Il Macello, a short walk from the University, where the live radio broadcasts will continue.
